What is Freedom Dollar (FRD) in one sentence?

FRD is a private, decentralized, censorship-resistant stablecoin that tracks ≈ 1 USD, runs fully on the Zano blockchain, and is governed by open-source code—not a company.

How does FRD stay near $1 if no bank backs it?

The peg is maintained algorithmically: users can always swap 1 USD-worth of Zano (ZANO) for ≈ 1 FRD and vice-versa; decentralized oracles feed price data, and semi-autonomous market-maker bots hedge reserve risk on exchanges. Together these forces expand or contract FRD supply around the target price. Anyone can run a market making node to help secure the network!

What collateral backs FRD—and at what ratio?

Every FRD in circulation is over-collateralised by ZANO held in protocol-controlled addresses. The live Coverage Ratio (value of ZANO ÷ value of issued FRD) is published on the dashboard; the protocol aims to keep this well above 100% at all times.

What happens if ZANO experiences a price drop?

The system will always have enough Zano to fully cover redemptions, and market makers will always have more USD on hand to buy more Zano if needed in the case of a large market correction.

Is there any central party that can freeze or blacklist my tokens?

No. FRD tokens live on Zano addresses you control; the token platform contains no freeze function, and the network itself has no admin keys. Third-party exchanges you use might enforce their own rules, but on-chain FRD cannot be seized or blacklisted.

How private are FRD transactions compared with Bitcoin or Ethereum?

Zano uses Ring Signatures, Confidential Transactions, and one-time stealth addresses by default. That means sender, receiver, and amount are hidden from public chain observers. No one even knows what asset you are transacting in! For strong privacy your wallet still needs good operational security; on-chain privacy ≠ total anonymity if you leak metadata elsewhere.

Where can I get FRD right now?

Option A (on-chain) – Use the Zano Dex as your Freedom Gateway in your Zano.org wallet to swap ZANO ↔ FRD directly.

Option B (CEX/DEX) – We're integrating with partner exchanges; the first listings are expected in Q3 2025. Join the wait-list or check the "Where to Buy” panel for live links.

What wallets support FRD?

Any Zano-compatible wallet can hold FRD because the token follows Zano's asset standard. We recommend the official Zano desktop/mobile wallets (v3.0 or later) but the Bitcoin.com and Cake Wallet are also both great and support FRD today.

What fees will I pay?

  • Minting or redeeming via the Zano DEX Gateway is whatever the market makers set. Usually about 0.25%
  • On-chain sends: standard Zano transaction fee (tiny and paid in ZANO).
  • Exchange fees: whatever your chosen platform charges.

Has the code been audited?

A full security audit of Zano by cypherstack has been completed.

Which jurisdictions can legally use FRD?

FRD is permissionless software; the protocol imposes no geo-blocks. You are responsible for understanding and obeying the laws, tax rules, and sanctions regimes that apply where you live or operate. This website does not offer legal advice, and does not advocate breaking any laws. Be responsible with how you use your Freedom Dollars.

How do taxes work with a privacy coin?

Tax treatment varies by country, but most authorities treat stablecoins as property: spending or swapping FRD may trigger a capital-gains or income event relative to your local fiat currency. Keep your own records; privacy tech hides data from the public, not from your tax obligations.

What risks are involved with using FRD?

  • Zano protocol bugs – undiscovered bugs
  • Collateral volatility – extreme ZANO draw-downs
  • Regulatory risk – changing laws on privacy coins
  • Key management – lose your seed, lose your funds

How can I contribute to the ecosystem?

  • Run a Market-Maker Node (tutorial on GitHub) to deepen liquidity and increase the decentralization of FRD, leading to more censorship resistance of the network. You might even earn some extra money from your market making activities.
  • Spread the word and build integrations. The more people who know about and use FRD, the stronger it becomes!
